US only: Google Earth and Political Information

Google has released a new layer to Google Earth providing information about the upcoming US mid terms. See the 2006 US Election Guide in the layers tab. Information such as available seats and funding are available as well as links to register to vote.

Similar information for the UK could be provided on a Google Map except maybe for the ward boundaries.

The US postal service are forced to provide all geographic boundaries and postal codes to the public, in the UK the Post Office are under no such obligation and don't seem keen at all to provide the data.

I think they will release the data sets, however they charge significant license fees for individuals and organisations to obtain the information.
