A google employee has developed a greasemonkey script integrating both Gmail and Google Reader. I've just downloaded it and it works a treat.

Only downside at the moment is that greasemonkey itself does not work with firefox 2.0.x and given that the official Firefox release has just been confirmed thats a bit of a shame.
