Over the last few days I've installed both Drupal and CivicSpace.
Drupal is an opensource social networking platform, providing forums, blogs, messaging and a whole heap of extra content. Because its an open source project there are many applications that can be added on top of the standard package.
CivicSpace is a based on Drupal software but with a specific leaning towards political organisations. I think CivicSpace was developed by the Howard Dean campaign team and is used in several local Democratic Party organisations, such as:

I'll be trying to work my way around the software over the next few days and see what interesting applications I can come up with.
Does anyone know of any UK Party currently using the software, if so please let me know?
